A classic,

North Beach Restaurant opened on June 1, 1970, founded by Italian-born restaurateurs Lorenzo Petroni and Bruno Orsi. From the beginning, it was more than a dining room: it became a gathering place where families celebrated milestones, neighbors met over dinner and generations of San Franciscans shared the table.
Over more than five decades, the restaurant became known for gracious old-school hospitality, genuine Italian cooking and one of the city’s most distinctive wine cellars. Its rooms have welcomed neighborhood regulars, visitors, civic leaders and countless celebrations, becoming part of the living history of North Beach.
In 2024, longtime North Beach restaurateurs Francesco Covucci and Peter Fazio stepped in to carry the restaurant forward. Both born in Italy and deeply rooted in the neighborhood, they chose to preserve the North Beach Restaurant name, its Italian heritage and the traditions guests have loved for generations—while bringing renewed energy to the menu and experience.
Today, we honor the past by keeping the house warm, personal and unmistakably Italian. Every guest who walks through our doors becomes part of the next chapter.
